WHAT
Accumulating snow in very cold temperatures that could lead to dangerous travel conditions. Accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible across South Mississippi and Central Louisiana with accumulation of 1 to 2 iHeavy snow possible across Central Mississippi and potions of northeast Louisiana.

WHERE
Portions of northeast Louisiana and central, east central, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi.

WHEN
From late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

IMPACTS
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Due to the very cold temperatures well below freezing, treacherous road conditions will develop where heavy snow accumulates. Travel impacts will likely continue well beyond the end of the snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.

Very low wind chills as low as 5 degrees each night and remaining near or below freezing during the day.

Southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and central Mississippi.

WHEN
Until Thursday morning.

IMPACTS
Cold conditions and very low wind chills can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
