ELLISVILLE, Miss. (Media Release):  Approximately 20 students from five Pine Belt schools spent the morning of March 2 on the Jones County Junior College campus working on math problems to earn a spot at state competition in April.

Each year, JCJC’S math department and the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics sponsor the district level MCTM Math Contest for Jr. High School students.

The winners will continue competition on the state level in April.  Winners are, first place for 7th graders, Ta’Kyra Daniels of Laurel Middle School; second place for 7th graders, Aiden Moffett of Taylorsville; first place for eighth graders, Maxwell Dobbs of Laurel Middle School; and second place for eighth graders, Wade Parker of Laurel Middle School.
